補足
この歌は要するに革命思想にかぶれる思春期の青年のこをと歌っているのだろう
彼は飼っている羊を見失ってしまったがそれは僕の手綱に繋がれているようなお手軽なものである。
週末にみんなで集まって何か凄いことをしようとするが、酒に酔い潰れて終わりという。
彼の英雄はWho's Who＝人名録に名前が載っているが彼自身の名前はそうではない。
思想に感化されて革命を夢見るが、チェ・ゲバラの家に辿り着く＝革命思想に飽きる、
までにはそう時間はかからないので妻は何も心配しないでぐっすりと眠っている。
とまあ、社会を知らない思春期の人間にはよくあることを歌っているわけだ。

blaze of gloryとglaze of blearyがかかってて
なにかすごいことをしようと目を輝かせて街に出たが
結局bleary=酒で頭をぼやけさせてglaze=めまいがしてきてそのままdrop like fries＝虫けらのように倒れていく＝酒にやられて大量に死ぬ

name　dropは自分が有名人のことを知っているということ、もしくはその人と知り合いであるかのようにをアピールするためにその有名人の名前を口に出す行為
そういうことをする人間はname-dropperという。日本語だとこういう言葉ないけど、輸入したらいいのにね。

 sup up your dregs はdrink to the dregsの慣用句がらみで、ちびちびと酒を飲み干していくみたいな意味
 your country needs you now ＝ 徴兵の広告にのるお決まりのフレーズ
 love and hate are written all over your fistの、love and hateは多分刑務所にいる人間が両拳にいれるタトゥーの事。目の下に入れる涙のタトゥーみたいなもの。1955年のThe Night of the Hunterという映画で有名らしい。それが拳に描いてあるわけだから、犯罪を犯すような強面の人間であることを気取っているとか、文字通り心奥で煮えたぎる鬱屈した思春期の感情表現とか、そういう意味だと思う。SmithsでいうところのThe Boy With The Thorn In His Sideみたいな。

 の部分が
 carry the crusade up the home strait
 になっているが誤字なのか本当にそう歌っているのかよくわからない。でも曲中ではup to と発音しているように聞こえるので誤字なのかもしれない。straitは苦境とかそういう意味だけどそれだと歌詞の意味がよくわからなくなる。home straightなら徒競走の最終直線コースとか、最終局面みたいな意味になる。
