Smithereensの名曲。デビットボウイの曲にも同タイトルの曲があるけど関連性はよく知らない。すげーいい曲なんだけど、訳してみたら歌詞の内容はほんと普通で肩透かしを食らったという。それでも３００回以上は聞いてるなぁ。

これは間接話法だ

こう解釈するべきで
I've got my own life, you've still got your wife,
の I は 優しくつぶやいた彼女だし、Youは不倫相手の主人公だ
今までI を この歌の主人公と解釈していて

貴方には貴方の人生があるし、奥さんもいるわけだから
彼女はそう優しくつぶやいた。

と訳していた ひどい誤訳だ 謹んで訂正いたします
