不良に恋焦がれる乙女の歌。フィル・スペクターの曲なのでずっと昔に間違いなく聞いたはずだけどその時はまったく印象に残らなかった。最近聞いたら名曲だなあと感動した。サビの韻の踏み方が素晴らしい。

この部分の流れるようなテンポ。韻律がとてもきれいで曲を聞くとついつい歌詞を口ずさんでしまう。

まるで映画のヒロイン気取りの歌の主人公。理由なき反抗かなんかが頭に浮かぶ。
けど歌詞を読むと最後がひっかかる。

He is always good to me, good to him I'll try to be

彼が優しくしてくれるから自分もそうなれるように頑張らなきゃって内容だ。
「俺はお前がこれくらい好き」
「私はあなたのことがこーーーーれ位好き！」
（お互い大きく手を広げるジェスチャーで）
てな具合に好きな度合いを競い合ってる内容だろうか。
もしくは反逆者で不良の彼を愛しているがその彼に恋することに背徳感を感じていて、自然とbeing good to him になれない感じなんだろうとも読める。こっちのほうがいい。be good to him と、恋人同士なら当然のことをわざわざtryしていると歌っているのが可愛らしい。彼女は恋に浮かれてはいるが自分と彼が置かれている状況を鑑みてちょっと冷静になってるんだろう。
